System Design of Cryogenic Test Tanks
In the cryogenic oxygen and methane explosive test series, a system was designed to deliver and monitor the cryogenics into the test article and subsequently ignite the mixture. This system in its entirety included key features as seen below.
• Window break mechanism that shatters tempered glass window releasing LOX into LNG tank below
• Secondary ignitor as an external source of ignition
• Fill level gauges functioning as a real time monitor of propellant fill levels
